No alteration of student loan terms!

No alteration of student loan terms!

This petition calls for the Government to scrap plans to alter the repayment terms for student loans taken out by those starting courses in 2012 or later, in particular the plan to freeze the income threshold from which repayments are calculated at £21,000 rather than increase it with inflation as was previously announced.

It is patently unfair to alter the terms of a loan that has already been agreed: a practice criticised by prominent figures offering financial advice such as Martin Lewis MBE, and which would be patently illegal if attempted by a commercial firm. In addition, it is effectively acting as a tax increase on middle-class graduates, which will hamper economic growth at what remains a fragile time for the economy. It is time to stop this immoral and illogical idea from progressing any further.

I believe there's still two months to go on that.

Just one month and ten days. Anyway, still better than nothing…

It is of course sadly legal, but yes, 100% agree.

    No

And isn't this technically breaching the ban and does Saracen's Fez intend to do anything as a consequence?

Aye to the petition, not so sure about the person posting it, as mentioned about the ban length

It would seem that the petition tool allows members to get around the ban?

As for the petition I would encourage people to aye on principle. Just because it's legal and won't have an affect doesn't mean it's right or fair.

Whilst the content is fine, I consider this a breach of the six month ban on the member's involvement in the MHoC. As such I'm going to close this thread.
