Here's some last minute revision for you guys if you need it! I had English intervention for the whole day after the Edexcel Maths exam and we had a bunch of resources which gave us 10 themes; causes and effects of conflict, the reality of battles, nature, sadness and loss, divisions in society, patriotism, individual experiences, death and helplessness. From there, I was able to pick out the 4 poems that kept popping out everywhere. All of them have six main themes that you can write about and yadda, yadda, yadda. Here they are!
1) Charge of the Light Brigade (effects of conflict, reality of battles, sadness and loss, patriotism, death and helplessness)
2) Out of the Blue (effects of conflict, nature, sadness and loss, individual experiences, death and helplessness)
3) Futility (effects of conflict, reality of battles, nature, sadness and loss, death and helplessness)
4) Come On, Come Back (effects of conflict, sadness and loss, patriotism, individualism, death and helplessness)
Due to their versatility, these 4 poems obviously share themes together so your (excuse my language!) arse is pretty much saved if you remember these. The themes they share include;
1) Effects of conflict
2) Sadness and loss
3) Death (obviously!)
4) Helplessness
I don't know whether this information will be of use to anyone, probably not if it does then thank you! Good luck to everyone and hopefully, AQA won't screw us over again.
