Yeah the midfield has been very sloppy in particular. The kind of game where you think even if you wanted Carrick for the weekend, Basti would be a good alternative now.

Those two can offer better control than they were though, against this standard of opposition anyway.

It's just FIFA pace abuse. Lofted through balls down our inside channels. Blind's pace and Young's positioning means the CBs were getting a bit stretched. The player I imagine Schneiderlin to be would be useful, a bit of mobilty and work rate to either get back and help out or to press the midfield before the pass comes.

Fellaini seems to have helped through, Rooney wasn't doing much defensively, so we've got a 3 now rather than a 2 1/4.

Decent enough performance in horrible conditions. Little bit worried we put too much into it with the weekend in mind, but I guess we had to make sure.
