in my 2016 Pre-U English paper 2, the question I answered for Shakespeare's Hamlet was "discuss Hamlet as a revenge drama".

I interpreted the question as 'do you think Hamlet is a revenge drama' and ultimately my argument disagreed with the question. I saw Hamlet as more of a pure tragedy, a philosophical play and a psychological analysis of human consciousness rather than a revenge play.

Does this make sense? Have I answered the question correctly? is Hamlet a revenge play? Unfortunately, I googled revenge play and discovered that Elizabethan drama deemed revenge theatre as more broadly "revenge tragedy", does this undermine my argument?
