This is a long shot but has anyone done a degree in radiotherapy and moved onto becoming a radiotherapy physicist?
That at the moment is where I'm heading for. I'm wondering, for those who have, how have you got there? I'm to be a third year (final year) student on the BSc Radiotherapy & Oncology course in September.

Not exactly the same thing but prof Mark Lythgoe started his academic career with a diploma in radiology

There are opportunities to specialise in planning as a radiographer but you'd probably need another degree to actually work as a physicist, there may well be a postgraduate course you could do to convert but I really don't know.

Can I ask why you want to go into that side of things?

Oh right that's a shame I know there's an NHS STP programme but it's really competitive to get into and I doubt I stand a chance.
Physics is just more of my interest. I prefer a lot more of the factual side of radiotherapy I've learned over the 'feelings' side of things. If that makes sense?
I can't see myself working in radiotherapy. Only in physics. I feel better suited there.

    Hey,

Couldn't you apply for jobs in dosimetry/planning? It's similar to the physics stuff, and you totally can apply to the STP, you just might have to wait a few years/applications before getting anywhere!*
