I have an interview coming up this week for a training contract with a high street firm.
They specifically state in the advert that they are looking for somebody who is commercially aware.

In terms of commercial awareness for a high street firm, would I be looking to show an unstanding of how the changes in the legal market effects the work the firm does and the clients.
So for example legal aid cuts to family law = less work in this area for the firm.

Is here anything else I should be looking to demonstrate in terms of commercial awareness?

    Many thanks!

Have a look at who their rivals might be, how they advertise and what the pressures are on their areas of work. As you are with legal aid considerations. Where might they expand? How can they compete with rivals? How do they see themselves? What qualities will they want let you to have to keep and bring in clients?
