Which would you choose?

Immortality - you would also be invulnerable (so you could not harm yourself or be harmed) and you would stop ageing at your current age.

I could deal with 5 years ~ I can enjoy uni and won't have to pay off the debt

Immortality would suck when the world ends in a few million years

We 'll go to another planet , problem solved.
Now choose immorality.

Some day the rest of the human race will end, and then you'll regret it.

By that point I'll probably have AIs to hang out with. If not, then I have an unlimited amount of time to teach myself how to build a computer from scratch, learn how to program, or perhaps write my own programming language, and learn how to program an AI to hang out with. I'd keep myself occupied.

No way you're keeping yourself sane for eternity

Just look at Marvin the Paranoid (and rather depressed) Android...

5 years.

I'm hoping for my life to peak after I graduate, where I have a decent salary and can enjoy a bit of hedonism, without worrying about settling or anything. Obviously if I die after that, I don't need to care about the consequences

5 years; the sanctity about life is that we have a short time to cherish it as much as possible, you lose that once you introduce immortality.

And at least you know when you're going to die then.

Not necessarily you forgot about all the other universes that await us .
We will migrate .
Destroy them (we are very good at this ).
Move to other universes .
Universes are infinite.
We will destroy them all in our infinite lifespan. HEY

This. Morality imposed onto an otherwise amoral species just restricts how much we can get from life for no reason.

I would choose immortality, I mean if I had to end up floating around in space forever because the World implodes then it's not too bad, I wouldn't be able to starve to death, I'd just be a bit bored lol

I know that I'd lose loved ones but I'd also meet my future family, so it's not so bad in the end.

Depends on the kind of immortality. The kind where you cannot cease to exist, or the kind where it's just really hard to die?

If the later, I'd go for immortal so I could learn and experience all the things that currently pique my interest. Then, when I've had enough, I can become a fireman or something and risk my life saving others until I end up dead. It would be a pretty cool way to go!

If it's the former...imagine being captured and experimented on/tortured with potentially no end? Or even surviving the destruction of earth, forever floating through space and presumably suffocating long beyond the Big Freeze...
