I'm an only child, my mum is dependant on me as we don't have any other family. I don't see myself leaving her, to live on her own but life is pretty restrictive with her. Is there anyone else in similar situations to me? How can I make this easier on the both of us

Honestly, don't leave her - in your situation it'd be like giving her a death sentence. I'm sorry but you'll have to keep her with you.

at some point you're going to have to live your own life, that doesn't have to mean moving hours away and never visiting... but you will need to be able to move out and have a job and a partner and so on and you'll just have to muddle thorugh and work out how that works when you come to it

Yes I don't plan on leaving her, as she doesn't really have anyone else.

She wouldn't cope living on her own, but my relationships and social life have suffered from her dependency. I'm just not too sure how my future will be affected as I do have quite big plans.

try and talk to her and help her reach a compromise?
take her out some place where she can meet new people can have friends she can talk to and depend on so she doesn't have to follow you round?
