Does anyone on here bother to keep a diary and if so why? I have just started one a month or so ago but I am not really motivated to write in it every single day. I know some people have written in one daily for many years so I just wanted to know their reasoning behind it.

I've been keeping a diary (well now it's spanned over three Moleskine notebooks) for the past three years. I don't write in it daily, maybe once every 2/3 days. I write when I have something to write about - something that interests me, how I'm feeling, my plans or my thoughts on random topics. I do it because I enjoy writing. It's different from writing articles where I'd have to take great care in the words I put down. Writing a diary entry feels more liberating and personal.

Sorry I just saw this. I forgot I even made this thread. Oops. I have tried keeping a diary for a little over a month now. I am very bad at it though and I can rarely be bothered to write in it then a few days later I feel bad about it and just fill those pages in. Oh ok, thats interesting. In my diary I don't really write about thoughts or feelings I just write about what happened that day like what time I woke up ,which friends I went to school with and what happened in my lessons in school. I don't write secrets down or anything its just an account of my day. I guess I remember those days where I wrote down what happened better than the days I didn't somehow.

Yes I keep one, but I have had breaks from writing in it. I do like writing in it, even if there isn't anything exciting going on, sometimes it's just nice to write down thoughts and feelings.

Thats nice. I was just wondering if people who say they keep a diary write in it every day or just once in a while because I feel really lazy on the days I don't write in mine.
