The work done on an object can be fully recovered when the force creating compression/extension is removed, but this isn't the case when the same object undergoes plastic deformation. Some of the energy can't be recovered. I'm guessing the reason for this is because some of the energy will be transferred into other forms, but I'm not 100% sure on this. Can someone help please? Thanks in advance!
