Currently study at University if Surrey and I'm really hating it. I feel like I need to be in London (the atmosphere, vibe, and generally my personality is more inclined to that tie of environment) and so wanted some general opinions of the reputability and how good some of the following universities:

    - Queen Mary University of London
    - Goldsmiths University of London
    - University of Reading
    - Goldsmiths University of London
    - Brunel University of London
    - SOAS, University of London
    - Birkbeck, University of London

And which, if any, would be worth leaving the University if Surrey for? (As I keep getting told, apparently Surrey's accolade and prestige is on the rise (which I find hard to believe). But obviously I don't want to leave a "good" University for something worse. (Anything better, or equal to Surrey would be great)

Any help would be great, thanks!

'Reputation' is a very poor basis for transferring universities. Apart from anything else, it depends how you measure it! If you think transferring to a uni with a 'better' reputation will automatically assist your job prospects, think again.

As for the 'London' effect - you do realise that Reading is no nearer to London than you are currently, and Brunel is out in Uxbridge (a good hour plus from the centre)?

I'd advise you to stop and think about what the issue with your current uni really is; if it's just that you'd rather be living in London than Guildford, I'd say that's a very poor reason for transferring, assuming you could. If you can't transfer, would you really be ready to start all over again and add even more to your student debt, just for the sake of 'reputation'?
