It has been suggested that it could be "retrenchment" and the "EU" as these two items have not yet been examined during the life cycle of the current specification that is coming to an end this year.

For the EU, I don't think it'll be hard to find an article or two given the current situation.
Personally I am going to commit to memory some fact figures and quotes from notable organisations and persons.

For retrenchment its trickier, currently it is easy to find UK businesses in strife, but does melt down and a mass sell off count as retrenchment? I would say not. Therefore you/I/we need to find businesses that are contracting and/or refocusing their efforts on their core activities as opposed to further diversification. (hint a search for retrenchment UK on google NEWS can be fruitful:-)

Tesco was brought forward as an example of retrenchment during the tutor2u BUSS4 revision day. What constitutes a recent example is subjective, so a business that has previously adopted retrenchment a few years ago (perhaps as a result of the economic turn-down) can still very much be relevant to the question.

A quick google search threw up this 'http://techcrunch.com/2016/06/07/rakuten-to-exit-the-uk-austria-and-spain-as-global-retrenchment-continues/?ncid=mobilenavtrend' which not only appears to make a great example, but it's likely to be unusual to the Examiner, unlike your typical Amazon and Apple which will bore them to death!
