"()The Court of Justice found that "The fact that a female employee of Muslim faith is prohibited from wearing an Islamic headscarf at work does not constitute direct discrimination based on religion".(..)"

In my opinion, it is a sane judgement.
Litte cross underneath the shirt may not be seen (and, therefore, "offend"- although I pity the people offended by jewelry), headscarf (not to mention burqa etc) is sawn straight away.

I'm sure they know they can do a lot better.

This is an area of law where the EU gives a lot of leeway to member states, under UK law this would constitute indirect discrimination at the very least...But as a matter of interest a ban on face covering is justifiable (see case of Azmi v Kirklees)

Oh how good it feels for revision to work, lets hope I remember this for my exams

SURELY individual companies should be able to set their own policies, and beneficiaries of the company(i=the employees) are allowed to choose to accept this or go somewhere else?

If it's a general ban on religious symbols it's not gonna be just muslims getting in trouble, so how it could be classed as "direct discrimination" I have no idea.

Regardless, if you know the policy is there, still choose to work at the company, and then choose to go against the policy then really you're an idiot.
