# S2 Approximations Watch

1. Can someone check these/ tell me the rest as I can't seem to find them.

Approx to normal

- Binomial to normal
np and nq >5

-Poisson to normal
lamda > 15 large n

Approx to poisson

- Binomial to poisson
n large, p small

- Normal to poisson
I'm not too sure on this one. Is it when the mean and the variance are the same?

Approx to binomial

Not sure about these ones.

Cheers

Do you have any examples?

Na. I thought there may be a rule for approximating to binomial

Nope.
7. Is there only 3 approximations then, binomial to normal, binomial to poison and poison to normal. Thanks

At A-Level, yeah.
