Personally I love my Woodworm bat, Performance Flame,although it is slightly heavier than your average bat, its brilliant for pull shots (favourite shot :biggrin:) and allows me to get extra power behind the ball. Its £160 so below your target range but it serves me well so maybe you can look for quality little bit lower than your price range too.

Kookaburas would be the best bet if you are looking for top end price range bats:

Looks a good bet for you, I'm guessing your middle order batsman?

My mate has one of these, comes in at number 3- he was awful at getting out through edges into slips but this bat makes sure he avoids that now- most probably because of its weight! And added to that it is fairly thick edged.

Looks pretty cool but I like my bat as it is :biggrin:
hope it helps,sorry for being fairly vague but its usually best if you know your strength and weaknesses before picking your bat and preferences, so you need to post a little more detail if you need more help. :wink:

I've used GM Purists for the last few seasons which have been really good despite being rediculously fragile at the light weights I get.

The professional at our club was sponsored by Kookaburra for 18 years when he was in Australia and went through an average of 5 bats a season - last year he got a sponsorship from Salix and said it was the best bat he's ever used. And he didn't break it until after the season finished.

Gunn & Moore = Fragile ( I broke mine in my 3rd net session)
Slazenger = Durable
Kookaburra = Expensive if you want a good one
Woodworm = Cheap wood

Go for a small firm in my opinion Worsop in Stebbing essex is very good and not to pricey Ravi Bopara and James foster swear by them

Hope this helps:biggrin:

I agree with purist. Go to a small firm and in that price range u can get a very good hand made one. No big flashy stickers, no pretending to be KP, but much better value for money. Try them all out and just get the one that feels best for you. I did. Never looked back.

I have a salix which is lovely, but the best thing would be to just go and try a few - it doesn't matter which is the best, it's all about which feels the best to you - I personally dont like G&M, grays.etc. - but I was very close to getting a woodworm - lovely pickup.

guys what do you reckon, a warsop or a millichamp and hall?

Solly sports get great bats they are just puma ballistic 6000's with different stickers on but half the price. Im an opener not middle order batsman just seeing what people thought were the best bats. Woodworm are shocking they are just countys. Salix make the best bats because they get to choose the best willow as it is Salix who provide the willow to all the major bat makers. Kookaburra need to spend less time designed their cartoon bats and make a good bat. I currently use a newbery and its a nice bat but a bit to fragile at the toe. The most annoying thing for me is with cricket bat is because I am fidgety at the crease I am always knocking my bat against the floor and end up with 1 side of my toe guard always hanging off after a few matches. Gray nicholls make some nice bats the fusion and powerbow especially.

Also you do realise Ravi Bopara could be using anything it could be an MRF many of the pro's with major sponsorships get their own bats and simply have their sponsors stickers put on them.

Really? Now that I didn't know...cant wait until the weekend to get my first chance to play with it again this summer. Still - from how sweet the bat is, it isn't a surprise :smile:

It doesn't matter what bat you have, it's what you do with it thats important :p:

btw, talking about millichamp and hall, is there a large difference between the two elite bats (harlequin and solution) and the original? which of the three would anyone recommend

I used to have a gorgeous Gray Nicholls Sabre 5 star when I was playing for Yorkshire, but some ****er stole it at an indoor competition at Headingley :frown:

Has anyone got an MRF?

I have a MRF, infact four of them, lol.

Love the bat, an amazing sweetspot! Feels really good when you hold it too, I feel well-balanced with it. Have hit many a decent shot with MRF's. Plus they can be bought from £20-80 in India (and thats the ones that are like £200 here!)
yep was gona say MRF the best ones about, iv seen them priced around £150 online/ebay but if you can get them from india would be much cheaper.
