Any suggestions for well-known companies (approved by Engineering Council etc.) based in London that I could apply for a summer work-experience in? Recently got declined by BAE for the upcoming taster week being held and I'm eager to do something this summer to find out what type of engineer I want to be. Live in Kent so I'd be able to reach London by train nearby

Have you tried Google? 'cause that's what all of the people replying will be doing.

Go for smaller companies rather than well known ones. they're much more likely to take you on, get you doing stuff and it will leave you with a more solid connection for future internships/jobs unlike with bigger companies.
