My sixth form are doing a prom and there's also an after prom party (which is not run by the sixth form college). We had to pay £10 for it and sign a letter about it. Obviously there's going to be alcohol there etc. but my parents aren't okay with it. I'm 17 and I've never been drunk before. My dad doesn't mind me going to the after party but my mum is really worried because of alcohol etc. My parents don't know that I've paid and signed the letter and I'm not sure how I'm going to hide that from them. I don't know how. Any tips? And I can't stay round my friends either! I'm not sure if they'll talk to my friends parents or not but they might tell them. Any tips on how I can hide it and how I can get them to let me go?

Honesty is always the best policy. But you have kind of broken the trust by going behind their back. Perhaps confide in your dad first and go from there. If I were you I would tell them that I wasn't going to get really drunk and then, not get really drunk at the party.

Good luck - you are going to need it.
