Reading campus

Is the Reading campus all lush and green and clean like i imagine it, or is it horrible and ugly? Lol.
Reading is very lush and green. It was originaly built on the grounds of some manor and is beautiful in the summer especialy down by the lake! It definetly has to be one of the most nicest open campuses that ive been too, all that and its a good uni to. What more could u want!

I went to the open day a couple of weeks back and the campus is very nice indeed! Very green (and it was sunny on the day I went which always helps). The Students Union is also very cool (they have massive cookies like the ones you get from cookie jar for 35 pence!! They normally cost 75!! Lol sorry, I like cookies). It has a good nightclub and lots of restaurants. Reading is great for shopping too!!

I would apply there for sure if it wasn't for that fact that I live about 10 minutes away and want to go further from home

It's been on my 'shortlist' for ages now and it's not too close to home or too far away and sounds lovely, so i think i'll probably apply there. It would be good to have an insurance choice i reckon as it has slightly lower ERs than everywhere else i am thinking of applying.
I'm sorry...but I beg to differ. I was in Reading approximately 2 weeks ago-to be precise, 12 August 2004. What a dissapointment. I was looking forward to the Uni since I have heard such a great deal about it (ie:good law department, reputable uni and so on) I can't say much about the quality of teaching but this is what I can say about the environment. Its green all right...the grasses are way long and the buildings are not maintained. Even the board that reads UNIVERSITY OF READING is well covered by the branches. I didn't find anything fasicnating about the lake, it was just alright. At that time, the bridge was under maintanence. Overall, I didn't think it is a very condusive environment. Sometimes, I wonder is the law school good? (since I heard so much about it) Can anyone please advise on this matter? Of course, we must never judge a book by its cover...but I think first impression is very important. Any thoughts about it? Thanks

Don't be put off! Try and visit it for yourself and see what you think. The buildings aren't the nicest in the world, but the campus is nice and green. And the SU is good!
