We would like to invite right-handed females between 20-50 years to take part in the imaging and people research project. We are doing this research to help us understand how the brain works when you are with different people. We use a modern method, called ‘magnetic resonance imaging’ (MRI).
You would visit us once and bring an affiliate participant with you. By random selection we will ask you to bring a current romantic partner that you have been with for at least 3 years, a close friend you have known for 3 years or a work colleague who you have known for 3 years and don’t visit outside of work. The affiliate participant can be male or female. The scan will take about 1 hour. While you are in the scanner, we will ask you to stay as still as possible. We will ask you to view some emotional pictures and receive some mild electric shocks whilst in the scanner. Outside the scanner, we will also ask you to complete some simple tasks on the computer and to fill in some questionnaires.
You will spend about 1 hour and 30 minutes with us each session. We will pay you and your affiliate participant £5 each for each half hour. If you want, we would love to give you a picture of your brain afterwards. Please get in touch and we will let you know if you are eligible to take part. We hope to meet you in person soon! Thanks for your time.
