Please can someone advise? I thought I understood 'writing to inform' but now have come across some material which has thrown me into doubt. I understood inform meant to be factual, clear and concise, shorter sentences etc. But I've just found a video on youtube which is meant to explain it and it seems more like descriptive writing to me, very sensory and quite dramatic??Also, somewhere else, (sorry, I can't remember where) it talks about an anecdote? How is that part of 'writing to inform'?

depends on what subject they want you to inform people about? also depends on the audience as well, if you have elderly people, you'll want an anecdote because you know, elderly likes to sit and hear your stories and gossip and stuff, if you have younger people, you'd want to be more snazzy and bit more colourful. take audience and topic into consideration and you'll work it out

Thank you for replying to me. I think I'm thinking in too literal and too narrow terms.
    I understand what you're saying.
