How are AS and A2 marks reconciled? Are they 50/50? And assuming they're 50/50, what happens if you had 41 for AS and 39 (ungraded) for A2? Would you still pass? Basically, do ungraded marks still contribute to your average?

Reformed AS and A-levels are decoupled, which means the AS marks don't contribute to the final A-Level at all.

^ Once you get your A2 results, your AS grades are pretty much discarded. Only your GCSE and A2 results stick around.

Just to be clear, you will still declare all your ASs on UCAS but universities will not generally count the tariff points from an AS qualification if the applicant has progressed that subject to the full A level.

In the existing A levels AS and A2 are each half of the A level. The ums from AS is added to the ums from A2 to determine the overall A level grade. The marks you get even from a U result still count.
