"I think that's a good problem to have, shoehorning in attacking players. For long periods of time, I don't know that I've had that situation where there's a lot of good attacking players to shoehorn so you won't find me complaining about that."

Also: "I’m not prepared to make this the Wayne Rooney show. You’re talking about the player who has played 111 games for England and scored 53 goals, so perhaps his best position is anywhere on the field.”

    Rooney starts. Every game.

Wish he'd hurry up and break the caps record (which is obviously what he's after) so he can just retire!

This (from a Man Utd and England perspective) hopefully this time next year he'll be swanning his way off to the US. Not that I dislike him, he's been a fantastic player, but now he creates infinitely more problems than he solves.

Rooney says he prefers playing up front. Oh wait, or is it the number ten? No its definitely midfield. Just waiting to see him say he feels like he can provide a good defensive option also.

Not complaining too much about being played out of position as he did in 2013 with SAF. He's very good at judging the mood around his position in the England team then adapting himself to fit himself into it as he knows the manager doesn't want to create a media noise in dropping him and having a competitive team with players playing in their positions

He's second best at everything now everyone is just better than him. He' better off on the bench and boosting morale, otherwise he's a wasted spot on the field.

If he's playing, he needs to be partnering Kane to be honest. Hodgson clearly wants a 4-4-2 diamond, and Alli is wasted further back. We need him at the tip, to link up with Kane.

If it's a 4-2-3-1, have Rooney wide left.

Funny that, when England had conceded after Rooney left the pitch
Anyhow, Rooney or no Rooney this England team will get scared of, or be too cocky against, the mighty Wales.

I believe england are scared of matches in general, and especially taking the lead. That means you can lose something. At least if you're behind you can make the 'heroic comeback' against Bulgaria like they've done 100 times.

Fair play to Hodgson for going hell for leather today. He has been dubbed as conservative - and rightly so - but he made a big call in flooding the attacking third with out-and-out strikers today, and he reaped benefits.
