Since I was little my parents have always fought and argued a lot. My father's voice is very loud and distinct when he's shouting and angry. And I always have these moments when I'm sitting in my room doing my work and I hear my father's muffled shouting so I go downstairs to check and there's nothing happening.

I've had this most of my life it's not anything recent but my father was on a very long holiday prior to this week and recently he came back and it just started again. I think because I haven't heard it in so long I have to get used to it again but it keeps giving me mini panic attacks and is very distracting when I'm trying to revise and now any slightly raised male voice makes me jump.

Anyone experienced anything similar or can give me some sort of advice or reassurance that I'm not going insane?

Not sure if I'm reading this right, but basically you're worried because you hear your dad shouting even when he is not?
