The stuff that I've read includes: "As technology improves, yields improve and saves labour; smaller families desirable." What does this mean?

How does better crop yields affect population growth?? Please help!!

As technology improves, you no longer need manual labour as much, and hence, in LEDCs, children aren't required around farms. Instead, as technology improves and the economy develops, with things such as education developing, children become an economic hindrance rather than an asset, as they don't help out as much on farms and the money they help make, is bascially all lost on education, food etc. Thus, they aren't beneficial any more, so families stop having as many kids. Hope this helps
