I think its ok if its a HB pencil, but even if its not you should be fine anyway, dont worry about it .

Yes, they sometimes specifically ask for it to be done in pencil. As pen is thicker and allso a greater error of margin.
also if it looks right you'll get the marks, the examiner don't look at them at great detail really.
If not they will ask for the original copy to mark. Either way you're okay.
I did a whole BIO paper in green pen and still got A*, not a great idea but the exam boards dont just force you to lose mark for not using a black pen.,

For my exam board at least, the scanner will read pencil, but only if done heavily. The main reason they insist you write in pen is so that the scanner will definitely pick it up (even if you write in pen lightly it's still clear) whereas a lot of people lean lightly on pencil. If you've done an exam and are worried about them not seeing your answer, don't, as the examiner will request a physical copy of the paper if they suspect this is the case. Otherwise, I'd stick to pen.

Don't worry at all. They make sure everything gets scanned properly. Also,if the exam marker cannot see what you've drawn they make sure they go back to the original script paper. Good luck and smash it
