Hello! I'm looking through some University websites right now and I can't understand how grading works.
In general when you get an essay back, what will it say on it? A B C D E F or percentages? Something else?
What about final marks at the end of the year? How do they calculate it?
Enlighten me everyone. Thanks!

Each university is different. I get percentages but my boyfriend got back grades and percentages.
Each piece of work or exam in a module is worth a percentage of that module, and then that module worth a percentage of the year. So as you get your marks back it's easy to work out your final grade if you wanted to.

Every university it completely different, my university uses an alpha-numeric scale for assessment grading. These translate into grade points, which are used to calculate your GPA for your final degree classification. It's unnecessarily fiddly compared to the standard percentages used by many other universities.
