Making the conversion (Secondary to college) watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm in Year 11 and I officially finish attending Secondary school on the 1st of July (leavers day and prom) and I can't help but think about the new step I'm taking.

Has anyone got some advice for someone who knows nothing about college and how things work?

I'm also a bit worried because my close friends aren't attending the same college as me and I have almost nobody that I know to walk around with.

And anyone who has attended Colchester Institute, I would appreciate the input even more

I was in the same position as you. I also had the added bonus of being chronically ill. The thing I noticed was that even those who joined a course with friends, made new friends and kind of migrated to a new friendship group pretty quickly. Everyone makes new friends, and you'll find a lot of them aren't people you'd necessarily have spoken to when you were in school. It's scary, sure, but after the first day or so you'll get a feel for it and you'll be completely fine. Everyone else will be just as nervous as you are, I promise.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
