Do law firms particularly care about the overall degree percentage gained? For example would a candidate be preferred if they got 68% as opposed to 63% in the final classification (seeing as they are both 2:1 overall).

Well of course having 69% rather than 60% would be beneficial but your grades are just one thing that firms consider

Thank you, so would they view your work experience/volunteering positions at the same level as the final grade?

I'm not a recruiter but I would say good vac scheme and low 2.1>no vac scheme and high 2.1. So yeah I suppose you could say that
