One of my friends went for her first interview a few weeks ago at Google, weeks before handing in her last uni assignment, and got the job. It was in the marketing and advertising section. We have the same degree (literature) - she is due to graduate with a 2.1 but me with a first. I wouldn't say she is exceptionally clever and she doesn't have any experience either - did she just get lucky? Is it hard to get a job at Google's London office in the marketing dept? I am struggling to be called for interviews and I'm not sure where I am going wrong.

She probably just has a better cv than you if you're not even being called for interviews. What do you have on your cv other than your degree? What does she have?

From what I know, I think I have more than her job wise as I worked throughout uni whereas she didn't, and she was not involved in any societies either whereas I was actively involved in two . She's only had one other job before this one, just a part time one the summer before she started university, but I've got a lot of experience.

She probably just sold herself better in her CV/Cover letter then

Does your university have a CV/Cover Letter clinic?

This. A CV is an advert for an interview. Ones performance at interview gains the job. What is different about you that makes you different from the thousands of other literature grads with 1sts?
