I'm a guitar player, so have little musical knowledge. How do you do the questions where you have to notate a melody from listening to it? I understand notation a bit but can just about understand that the melody is higher - how do you find the exact note?

Hey, you should listen to whether the notes go up or down because usually they will only go up/down by one. You could also try memorising some of the main notated bits, like in the Handle set work. Good luck!

Yeah I would try to memorise the key melodic ideas in the set works for example the motif in the Mozart one, but if you get given one you aren't sure on try to hear the notes in your head and how they relate to one another. if you get given a C at the beginning, then listen to the note at the end and see how it relates to the C etc
