Hi, I've got the mechanics 3 exam tommorow and i'm pretty confident in general but the relative motion questions such as these

really confuse me, I can work my way through and get a couple marks but im pretty much just making guesses as to what might be right (I don't remember being taught this at all???)

can someone tell me what my thought process should be when going through these questions or link me to a decent resource on learning this 'cause I havent been able to find one.

(P.S. I was taught the method where you differentiate function or distance between them but that doesnt seem to apply to these questions?)
