I'm really confused. Can some help me out! So greater the wavelength, narrow the split greater the diffraction therefore doesn't the wave spread out more and thus people further away can hear it?

I googled it and I read that when the wavelength is greater and narrower the split the diffraction is great but energy is lost as a result the spreading out decreases thus the person cannot hear you.

And can u explain how obstacles like mountains and hills affect diffraction?
