surely banning me would meerly serve to proove my point further...
Possibly - none of the sites that I've been a regular on would tolerate a member publicly questioning the integrity of the moderation team, no matter how justified the claims may be.

It's no worse or better than the ****ging off that goes on in PM (but then PMs are entirely "secret" so this sort of action is unlikely to ever be outed)
do you think that ****ging people off is ok fullstop? if no then its only a case of whether people get caught or not, the ****ging off in f51 cannot be justified

    (Original post by Pencil Queen)
If he thinks the mods are corrupt then there are far more productive ways of getting things changed than simply posting accusations in public. PMing d with a complaint for a start.

Risking a ban as he did does nothing to help his "cause".
d has already been pm i think by some members

And as has been pointed out any indication of rep whoring was stamped down on by Ollie as soon as it came to light. This too has been confined to PMs (where it happens).
and the neg repping? and the deletion comments?

Risking a ban as he did..
PQ: "I don't think he's done anything to deserve being banned and haven't posted anything to that effect "

    im sorry??

...does nothing to help his "cause"....I still think it's pretty daft to publish these sorts of opinions on the very website you're talking about...when the people you're referring to have the power to ban you from the site....none of the sites that I've been a regular on would tolerate a member publicly questioning the integrity of the moderation team, no matter how justified the claims may be
speciez: you just said you thought that he should be careful on this thread PQ: no. I said I thought it was daft to critisise the integrity of the people who have the potential power to ban him

    can you clarify that?

no matter how justified? this is precisely the sort of thing that was overwhelmingly voted against yesterday. the moderator control should be transparent and accountable to the good of the forum. do you agree with this or the situation you outline?

I do respect the mods and I would like to think personally that they are mature enough to take criticism when it is backed up with facts
    <snip>
I use this forum for a reason, there are a large number of very clever people on it, I would like to think therefore that we could resolve our differences and make teh place better.

My apologies to all the newbies, and also some of the older forum members, who took offense to yesterdays post about Mr White being forced to leave due to a dramatic increase in useless posting. The thread was just a tool for me to complete part of my 'social studies' assessment. The title and two posts I put on the thread were more in Mr White's honour than anthing else. For he had helped me with a few similar exercises about six months ago. Thankyou to all who participated, though it is a little sad to see that the level of truth in the orignial post was high and perfectly justified by many of the people who replied before it was thankfully closed. Personally, the greatest part was seeing Ensocopier, my main antagonist in days gone by, return for one last fling. Cheers

By the way, this is worth a High Distinction, thanks people.
That's a load of crap. You're blatantly just embarrassed about your post, and how you just got ****ged off for it.

I don't get embarrassed my friend. I don't show much emotion at all to be honest. As for being ****ged off. I've been ****ged off by more intelligent and capable people than yourself. They're some of my closer friends after all.

Calm down. No need to get offensive. So, what conclusions did you draw from your investigation?

How long does it take for you to understand that you really should leave?

Sire, if this study is for real, are you going to take into account the unethical method you used and the lack of informed consent given to the participants? Ethics are so important in any psychological or sociological study as our teachers kept reminding us!

S'ok, just thought I'd mentioned it. I'm trying to stay out of that particular topic, although it's been interesting watching the debate forum today.

I'm not leaving, and there is nothing serious to my remarks after the main point of this discussion had taken place.

Someone picked up on the closer friends on a forum. I didn't state that they were on a forum.

Also, for the benefit of (s)he who said I'm not, I am rather intelligent and also have a much broader sense of humour than the average.

Okay. The conclusions were that people will group themselves based on what they feel their strength is and, without prior planning, manage to rebound off one another to tackle what they feel is a threat to themselves. The main conclusion to be gained was that we really are numbers after all. If that makes sense. I'll be happy to send anyone a copy of the paper if they give me their email in a pm. i still dont know who mr white is...
He was one of the more pragmatic members of the forum who joined around June of 2003. There are very few members still around from that time and he just had a way with words that could inspire debate and discussion about the simplest of things. For instance, during December of 2003, he began 'The Way of the Enlightened Few' which was something of a forum cult. A joke at first but he inspired many to join him and it began to be something more. Then came along Iluvatar with his PPU later to be the PAP and another party called the Girls on Top (GOT). This alone sent my post count up to a record 1000 in 6 days, simply for arguing the morals and ethics behind such a simple thing. My main counterpart was 2776 of the GOT. After a little while, the joke wore thin and 'The Way' was disbanded. Mr White still reigned as one of those insufferable members you couldn't help but like, and he continued with his sharp wit and striking intelligence in guiding many newbies to the ways of the UKL forum. Thus I left him in charge of The Gentleman's League after I left in January. He took on the role and made it grow, giving people a sense of uniformity whether they were old hands or fresh blood etc. He was one of the greats basically. A sad loss.
