Hello, Please are there any Irish students here in the UK who know if one can get a maintenance grant from Ireland to study in the UK. I have accepted an offer of a place at the University of Buckingham for a BSc degree on Full time basis. I learnt there is no maintenance grant/loan for EU students from March 2016. Any information will be appreciated.

    Thank you

You won't be eligible for UK student finance until you've lived in the UK for 5 years, no idea about whether the Irish government will offer you anything.

To add to what Jelly says above, Maintenance Grants have been abolished for courses starting September 2016 onwards. After five full years living in the UK (for purposes other than education) you would be entitled to a repayable Maintenance Loan.

The March 2016 deadline wasn't one at which Maintenance Grants were abolished for EU students. It was the point at which the residency requirement for the Maintenance Loan increased from three to five years.

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
