Hi guys could anyone tell me if it is possible to do a PGCE in Primary School teaching after doing a degree in Sports Management ? Or does the degree you have done have to be in line with teaching already?

I am sorry to say this but it is technically possible and but realisticly unlikely.

This is because there are so many people trying to get onto PGCEs with more relevent degrees and lots of experience. Like I had a friend who had a degree in Education Studies and has been volunteering at a Primary School for 2 years while she was at Uni. Should would be a great teacher but didn't get in.
So unfortunately although you should be able to apply, others with relevent degrees and experience will get priority.

To bget onto a PGCE, you need a degree that has at least 50% worth the subject you wish to teach or spealise in. Since your degree seems a little bit more focus on the business/accountant/planning side on sports, it doesn't seem likely you'll be encouraged to apply for an actual teaching post. I mean if you did something like Human Biology, Anatomy or Sports Science, then you would of had a better chance.

I mean the best thing you could do is apply to be a sports coach at Primary/Secondary schools and then perhaps see if there is later a post going to be a PE teacher and maybe the school will offer you free training if you're a great sport coach. Budgets are tight though.

Have no idea why you'd want to be a teacher though... The profession is in a crisis atm!

But having said that, you should still apply anyway, you never know!
