Edexcel History B: Life In Germany 1918-1945

Just made a thread for this since there was no other one i could find
Can anyone tell me the difference between the SS & SA, what they did etc. ?
the SA were developed at the beginning of the Nazi party, and at first they were used to intimidate other candidates and disrupt meetings and they were lead by Rohm. However, Hitler then changed the SA and focused on discipline instead of intimidation. They began to wear uniforms and appeared at rallies. The Freikorps and ex army men who were angry by the Treaty of Versailles joined the SA. Once Hitler became Chancellor, he developed the SS, which were his bodyguards, who were controlled by Himmler. But, after the Night of The Long Knives,Hitler killed Rohm and other SA leaders because Rohm was gay and wanted to take over the army, and Hitler didn't want that. This meant there was no more SA. Himmler then merged the SS with the police and formed the Gestapo. The SS also ran Hitler Youth training and just generally supported the Nazi's.
SA was the NSDAP (Nazis) personal army created by Hitler and Drexler and it was led by Ernst Rohm whilst Hitler was head of the Nazis. Hitler then created SS because he felt that the SA was more loyal to Rohm than Hitler himself. In 1925 he created the SS so that they would be loyal to Hitler. Then, during the Night of the Long Knives, the SS were ordered to kill SA members and kill Rohm himself.SA was before WWII and SS was before and during World War 2
SS are called Blackshirts and SA are called Brownshirts because of their uniform
