    I'm going to be study Actuarial Science at City University London and just wanted to look into the subject a bit more. What are the best books out there to read up on?

    With all respect, it's a massive subject. The best single book is probably this one however in all honest I would just brush up on more basic maths/stats skills rather than applied bits and bobs. Courses differ massively too in terms of order so you could read about a subject you won't touch until final year.

    If you're that desperate to do some reading, I'd go with some basic economics and utility theory as it underpinned a few bits in my course (Kent).

    My honest opinion is that learning Excel/VBA/other code would be a better use of time in terms of employment prospects.
