    I've been doing a few papers and keep losing marks on critical path analysis. There's often dummies in weird places and I can't work out why, and it's been on more than one paper.

    That's just one example, but I've seen almost the exact same thing in at least one other paper. It's the part where it goes

    D -> node -> dummy

    I don't understand why a dummy is needed here. Why can't activity D just go straight to the node ending at E?

    Exam is tomorrow so would really appreciate any help!!

    Activity D and E are required for F to happen, however D can start at time 0, so you dummy it in as it does not require A and B to be complete before doing activity D.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
