    Hello all,

I am interested in knowing how good film students are at producing films compared to industry professionals, and I hope there would be some film students here who could help me out in that regard.

I would be very grateful if you would show me some of your work (maybe you have some of it uploaded to YouTube?), and state what year you're in :-)

    Thanks!

If this is anything to go by, I'm going to say "definitely not as good as industry professionals."

Thanks for your reply. Are you yourself a media/film student?

I am looking to find videos produced by media students to get a sense of what media students are capable of compared to industry professionals. I would be very happy if you could present your own insight on the matter, and/or show me some of your own work or something made by other media students along with the year the makers of the videos were in when they made it.

    Thanks.

No problem, I'm not myself, and don't take my response before too seriously I had just watched that video and felt like sharing it with the world

There's varying degrees of punchiness to low budget films I think. I've seen some really good low budget short films (check out En Forelskelse, it's in Dansish but has subs you can find on youtube). Students, for the most part, won't know as much about direction as professionals, of course, but you can find real talent there. I'd recommend getting yourself on a film set as a runner or an extra to get a feel for what goes on and see if you like it. I'd say the main pitfall of student films which you're going to see will be that they might try too hard to be original because of the unbounded enthusiasm new artists tend to have, as often an original idea can be passion for pursuit of a new hobby or career.

    Have fun in your search!

Thanks, I'll give it a watch (fortunately I'm fluent in Danish).

However, the videos I had in mind were more for corporate purposes etc. Like short 2-3 minute videos.

As you've posted in the AUB forum have you seen the final year projects from AUB from last year?

http://www.morehatethanfear.com and https://vimeo.com/139075553/description are trailers for two of them

I found those using google after looking finding the titles on the AUB summer show pages
This years (no film stuff there yet - they seem to be releasing information course by course)
2015 (where those two film titles came from - use the filter to show information about film grads only)
2014 (https://vimeo.com/channels/787904/102010441 is a behind the scenes film about one of the films, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwM4FK21QBQ is a "making of" documentary for another one)

http://aub.ac.uk/courses/ba/ba-film-...film-showcase/ has a bunch of older films produced by students including all the graduate films from 2000-2011 here: https://vimeo.com/channels/aucbgrads2000
