Special consideration due to illness?

Hello, Ive recently been suffering from glandular fever up to and throughout my A-level exams. Ive handed in a doctors note and the exam boards have been inform. Ive been told ill be given special consideration, and that they are quite sympathetic to illnesses such as glandular fever during exams, however does anyone know what the process will actually be? and what ill receive?
Thanks.
You could try looking on the exam board's website to see if they publish their process, but I think generally you get a certain percentage added on to your mark.

they told me i had to resit any paper i did bad on, though they would give me breaks if i had more than one exams in a row.
ive heard a lot of people getting marks adjusted/grades for missed exams, dont think it goes on anymore much unless i am extremely unlucky.
I would ring up your firm and insurance uni and let them know, and post them copies of the notes etc too if possible - that way if you don't make the grades they need it will already be on their records about the difficulties you had, and they'll be able to make an informed decision about you. And I'm sure they'd appreciate you informing them early, instead of waiting until results day to tell them something you've known for weeks (they might be quite busy then!).

EDIT: I hope this is relevant - are you going to university?!

I had a similar problem, I only broke my leg, but there were quite a lot of complications. My schools exam officer said that they would only ever put people up by 5% and that that was usually reserved for the loss of a parent. If you rekon that this isn't going to be enough then I would definatly call the University and make them aware of the situation. Most Unis say that if you don't make the grades then you should call them to see if thre is still a place available, if they know that you were ill then they are more likely to accept lower grades. Also if they say no then you could do retakes although expect the offers to be much higher as you would be taking them for a second time. Good luck and I hope you are over your illness now:smile: .
If possible, ask a teacher at school to write to the uni on official school letter paper to explain about your illness and include copies of your doctor's note. It should be taken more seriously that way and if you let them know in advance, they'll automatically take it into account on results day if you miss your offer, so you might be in a better position than someone who got the same grades as you but with no extenuating circumstances.

Thankyou for the replies. Im not going to worry about it too much now because Im considering having a yaer out before uni and ill try and redo exams to improve my grades allowing me to get into a better uni hopfully the following year. So ill just wait and see what happens on results day.

"Good luck and I hope you are over your illness now"

Yes ive fully recovered now, Thankyou.

The maximum is 5%. You won't get that. 4% is almost impossible to get, 3% is very hard to get. You'll probably get about 2% added.
