You can't make this stuff up:

The Boomtown rats star blasted out songs including Chicago's "If you leave me now", while the Leave boats retaliated by firing water from a hose at Geldof's vessel.

In my opinion, Geldof was unable to manage his personal life and family and now he wants to tell us how to vote

Exactly. It's like taking advice from Lindsey Lohan on how to live a sensible life.

Apparently most people on Geldoff's flotilla abandoned it because he started to jeer fishermen worried about their jobs. One of them - some Momentum type - even went on Twitter to appologise for it and separate herself from Geldoff's behavior.............

"On a boat with Bob Geldof and its awful. I may vote remain, but don't support jeering at fisherman worried about their livelihoods."

"As someone who was on Bob Geldof's boat, and left with others in protest, I can tell you it is everything wrong with strongerin "

"Fisherman, please know that most Labour remain people on Geldof's boat left in disgust. Not why I'm in at all #thames"

"Left Bob Geldof's boat in disgust. Fisherman, the Labour Remain presence sincerely apologises #thames"

This from the LGBT Officer for Queen Mary Uni Labour Society. You know when the final boss of SJWs criticises you like that you've got something wrong with you.

Meanwhile look at what some of thgw chapaigne socialist bell end Geldof's supporters wrote:

"The irony in having a load of undesirables packed onto an unsuitable sea vehicle campaigning against unwanted immigration. #flotilla"

    And this sneering tweet:

https://twitter.com/mrianleslie/stat...rc=twsrc%5Etfw (you have to see the picture with it to get it hence link instead of pasting it here)

I'm voting Remain but the Remain campaigns are so bad. This whole thing incapsulates it. It's mainly just sneering at working people and wondering why Brexit is having more and more traction. It's like a regular Labour election campaign.

I'm voting to stay but we do ourselves no favours. A small number of rich people mocking a large number of working class people. Sorry who are the real bigots?

It was funny to see Farage pretending to care about the fishermen.

He was on the EU Fisheries Committee - he turned up to one meeting. A TV chef managed to do more for our fishermen then Farage has ever done.

    1) UKIP is an EU protest party - not appearing in the EU is their manifesto

    2) That fishing committee has no power at all! It's utterly useless and that's why he hasn't even appeared.

    3) It doesn't even come close to excusing the damage the EU did to the fishing industry - to the point where 92% of fishermen are voting to Leave.

"Blocks to Reform: Changing any aspect of the Common Fisheries Policy – even ones which are clearly broken such as subsidies or destructive and wasteful such as discards – is very difficult indeed. This is because the EU moves at an extremely slow pace with endless committees, reports, investigations and so on having to be carried out before any action can take place, but also because agreements need to be reached between all member nations before change can take place. This is a particular problem because nations such as Spain and France almost always try to derail any regulation or rule changes which will disadvantage their fishermen, even if the rule change will help restore fish stocks and benefit everyone in the long term. This can be seen in the discard ban where France and Spain issued a ‘joint declaration’ which aimed to allow discards to continue indefinitely (in the end they only gained small exemptions for themselves). Similarly, an attempt to ban deep-sea trawling was narrowly defeated, even through this practice causes untold damage to ancient and delicate ecosystems and the entire deep-sea trawling fleet is almost entirely French (and runs at a massive loss and is only propped up by EU subsidies). The reasons for the French and Spanish blocking reform are perfectly logical: they have the largest fishing fleets and receive the most in subsidies – Spain in fact has the largest fishing fleet in Europe but does most of its fishing outside of its own territorial waters. Furthermore, CFP Reform Watch state that Spain receives around half of the total subsidies handed out by the EU – a good situation for them but it is a terrible one for Europe’s fish stocks.

Even when change does take place it is painfully slow. The discards ban took three years to agree and came close to being completely derailed or watered down to the point of being useless a number of times. Even when it was agreed in late 2013 it will be phased in between 2015 and 2019, meaning it will have taken almost a decade to fully implement a system which basically amounts to stopping fishermen throwing away perfectly good and edible fish."

Don't even try to pull this argument out because it's easy as **** to shut down and has no relevance to the EU debate, it's petty ad hominem.

I imagine anyone with an ounce of hope left for humanity was hoping for a very local hurricane with Farage and Geldof never to be seen again.

Well I for one enjoyed this as the quirky and mildly amusing show that it was.

Whatever happens, I hope that both sides of any given dispute yelling at each other on the Thames becomes a more frequent part of our national discourse.

We need more politics like this.

I propose ship battles instead of question time.
