completely depends how much you drink, if you pre-drink etc.

A night is definately do-able on 10-20 quid with a bit of pre-drinking.

Students nights are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday

Really expensive! On Fridays and Saturdays almost everywhere (yep, including bars, after 11 anyway..) charge something on the door and drinks are ridiculously expensive, like £6 for a double vodka and coke! STudent nights are a little cheaper though and especially on Thursdays lots of places like Panache and Fuschia do special drinks offers. I can get through £60 on a Firday or Saturday easily..

£60!!!!!??

Do you use £10 notes to light your cigars or something?!

60 quid a night??!?! I was aiming to spend that much a week!

I know there are student nights,it was on the UBU website, like pints were 1 pound or 1.50 and a vodka mixer was something similar. Think it was only on a certain midweek day though. Ive heard Bristols an expensive city though.

You missed Thursday:p:

I think generally Bristol is quite reasonably priced. Normally I'd only spend around £20 on a night out, assuming I have a few drinks before going out. It really depends where and when you go, but there are plenty of student friendly places.
How many Student nights?! We only had 1 in Gloucester! Mixed with the SU bar, I need to get a job otherwise my loans out the window in the first month!

I've heard good things about Oceana and Propaganda. Although I've heard it's over 21 on a Saturday at Oceana?

yeah boo how DO you get through so much money? you must be using your £10s for something

panache/oceana/syndicate/carling academy are ok if it's mainstream you're after

if you're into indie check out stutter at thekla on thursday nights (for more obscure indie), or for mainstream indie propaganda at panache on weds, ramshakle at carling academy on fri

if you lke D&B, or electro or house or breakbeat, that kinda stuff, check out native ( saw nikcy blackmarket there), timbuk2, lakota (TRIBE OF FROG rave it up, psytrance), blue mountain, clockwork and join dontstayin.com to find out what nights are on weekly!
i can recommend run at native on tuesday nights and tmbuk2 is expensive but good on a saturday

if you hate cheese avoid wedgies and lizard lounge like the plague

Basically there is at least one place that will be having a student night on any given day. Except for sunday I suppose.

I like Oceana and Propaganda, they're good fun. The music in Propaganda is more my thing, Oceana is more cheese and R&B. Yeah Oceana is over 21s on a Saturday, but there's plenty of other places to go.

Ellabella you crazy bitch what the hell are you implying?!
=P
I get through so much money on a night out because I generally go out on Fridays/Saturdays where almost everywhere charges an entrance fee, even the places that are just glorified bars. And we have a habit of going to several places on one night, meaning many entrance charges. With drinks costing £5ish for a double spirit and mixer in a lot of places, its really really easy to get through that much money!

:O ridiculous! you just spend the night going from place to place!

hah i know how to go out and BUDGET, drink value voddy round mine, walk (taxi if we really splash out), then i try to sneak past the bouncers at the door and take little bottles of voddy with me to drink in the loos or add to bought soft drinks

So at these 21+ places, do they really check for ID and stuff? Where I live in the Netherlands these 21+ rules are usually interpreted very freely, how strict are they on rules in Bristol and the rest of the UK?
Reply 13
your id will be checked. i usually spend about £30 on a night out but i dont drink before i go.
Reply 14
Well I'd have thought over 21s places would be less strict since they aren't breaking the law by letting an under 21 in. But obviously they still have to make sure someone is at least 18 so they'll probably still check most IDs.

I spent £4 on a night out yesterday and usually around £10. Just don't get taxis and do most of the drinking before you go out. Easy
The Bristol -- Bath area has a lively and active jazz scene, too.

So how is Bristol for classical music?
