You can apply through clearing this year but each university has their own conditions for allowing students to defer their entry. So when you call up you have to ask each individual univeristy if they can offer that opportunity to you.

I got my Uni place through clearing, and I wasn't allowed to defer entry. I don't think many places allow it, best to call

I have deferred entry but don't think I will get grades for firm or insurance. Is it better to reapply as I will retake unit four in biology hoping to get the grade up? Have read somewhere that clearing is more for people who want to go this year?
    Thanks

It's pretty rare for a university to offer a deferred place through Clearing. The idea is to match applicants with places for this year's intake. If you're taking a gap year the expectation is that you'll reapply.

You could try and contact unviersities and see what they say but don't be surprised if you get a lot of negative answers.
