What would happen if you missed your GCSE Exam? watch

    • Thread Starter

Just want to know what would happen if you missed your GCSE exam e.g. In a situation of oversleeping or in a situation like broke an arm just before the exam. What would happen? Would you be allowed to take the exam even though there people have already finished the exam 1 hour+?

I would just like to know. So please do tell.

Under most circumstances, you would receive 0 UMS marks for that unit, seriously dragging your grade down and potentially meaning you fail the subject entirely. Depending on your school/college, they may also make you pay the entry fee. In cases of serious illness/injury a grade is sometimes awarded based on coursework/predictions/etc., but you'd need full documentation to prove that it was impossible for you to sit the exam. Oversleeping or minor to moderate illness would not be grounds for that.

As for if you showed up late - there's a certain time after which nobody can start the exam, because at that point people will have left at some centres and answers could be on the internet. So it would depend how late you were - an hour or more would certainly be far too late.
Do you agree with the proposed ban on plastic straws and cotton buds?
