So i've been looking into foundation years, they seem to good to be true, but it seems they are indeed real lol. Anyway, I submitted an enquiry about my suitability which someone responded to saying they will forward it to the correct place for 2017 places. I'm a bit curious when they will actually handle it, It's been a couple of days, but I figure that they would wait until 2017 applications start? Though what I submitted wasn't actually an application it was just a "see if you are suitable" sort of thing.

I thought I'd ask here as well what would be considered a suitable student for a foundation course, seems a bit crazy that they ask for literally no qualifications.

I've been working since i was 18/19 in an IT Support place and in my first year I had weeks away to study and earned a Level 3 in ICT Systems and Principles. Other than that I don't have any qualifications. I'm just looking for a change and a better life and regret being an idiot in school and not studying properly. I can't see any reason they would let me in, it doesn't really feel like i deserve to do it in a way. I'm currently learning the Japanese language mostly through self study and a few private lessons.

The University i'm interested in is Durham and the course is Japanese Studies + Foundation year. Is this course competitive? and if I am suitable when would be the best time to apply? I cant seem to find other Universities offering this course with a foundation year.

A foundation year seems to give me hope, but it makes me very anxious at the same time, I don't want to get my hopes up too much and waiting for them to reply about suitability is killing me!

Sorry for the long post, I'm just rather nervous right now, Thanks.

Did they say they had no places for 2016 Entry? If not it might be worthwhile double-checking with them and applying now, assuming of course you are interested in starting sooner rather than later....

September 2017 would be best for me, the way things are right now. I want to have a decent amount of savings so i don't get into any unneeded trouble! I also need to give a decent amount of notice to my employer. Obviously unneeded trouble is the way of uni but i want to try and mitigate it a bit haha

UCAS opens for 2017 entry in the second week of September and runs until 15th January 2017 for applications which are on time. Late applications are accepted up until 30th June for some courses, but by no means all. You don't need to apply now - indeed, you can't unless you are applying for deferred entry, and the universities won't be interested in those right now.

That's great, thank you for the help. Appreciate it.
