Systematic desensitisation belongs in the learning approach, it is based on the principles of classical conditioning (learning through association)

Social applications include understanding obedience (milgram agency theory - agentic/autonomous states and moral strain) as evident during the my lai massacre. Social applications also include sheriffs social identity theory (in groups and out groups) - understanding prejudice
