If he says that I look like I'm in my early/mid-twenties as opposed to my age (pushing 19) because I'm "not so much older, just more mature," what's he really saying? Is it possible to look half a decade older without actually looking much older or was he just being polite and saying I look old?

He's saying you look like you are in your mid-20's.

I also like how mid-20's is "old". FML.

He's saying the way you act/behave is mature and makes you look older, probably this carries itself in the way you talk, walk, express etc. But that you don't look old, probably that you seem more adult than teen

It means your face looks like it's mid-20's.

You can decide if that's good or bad.
