I plan to volunteer for 70 hours during this summer, I should receive a volunteering certificate from my college in 2017 January. The only problem is that I will apply for Uni in September 2016.

I thought that when applying for uni, I could write that I am waiting to receive volunteering certificate from my college, because I have done 70+hrs of volunteering, is it a good idea?

    Thanks

You don't need to say you're waiting for a certificate, just say you have done the volunteering and mention what you did, I'm guessing this is probably NCS, if it's NCS just mention it.

Put that it is in progress in your personal statement, if its something relevant to your chosen course otherwise it might not make a difference.
