More specifically, tests containing questions in which you are given a paragraph, then several statements, and for each statement you have to state "True", "False" or "Cannot Say".

I can only get between 40% and 60% on these tests at any given time, I wonder what that says about my employment prospects...

Doesn't say anything about your employment prospects.

    1) plenty of organisations do not use VRT tests.

    2) most tests work on a percentile rather than percentage pass score. Percentile pass marks vary massively - typically anywhere between the 30th to 75th percentile. You won't know what your percentile ranking is for each test.

    3) you can improve your scores in time. Main contributors to improving your performance are confidence in what you will expect from the test (not being surprised by the type of questions) and decisiveness.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm terrible at non verbal reasoning tests
