    and d^2.
    there are a number of different ligands and the strongly determines our case
    if so the field is strong and the spin low.
    then why is V(iii) is paramagnetic and not diamagnetic?

    Low spin and high spin cannot apply as the 3+ ion is 4s0 3d2

    Both high and low spin states have two unpaired electrons and are paramagnetic.
